Colour photograph showing the auditorium of the Civic Theatre, formerly the Hippodrome and Palace Theatre, in Darlington. Taken from the stage, it shows the stalls, dress circle and gods. The circular ceiling, set in a square with plaster ornament in the corners, is party in shot at the top of the photograph and the fronts of two stage boxes can be seen to the far right and left at dress circle level. Delicate plaster ornament decorates the box and balcony fronts. The control box is also visible in the rear wall behind the stalls.
