Adam Smith Theatre
Built in 1899 with a bequest left by Provost Beveridge to commemorate Adam Smith, originally the building contained the Adam Smith Hall (which occasionally housed private theatricals), the smaller Beveridge Hall and a public library.
In 1973 the interior was changed considerably to provide the present Adam Smith Theatre (designed to serve as a drama theatre, concert hall and film theatre), and Beveridge Suite (a simple wooden floored studio) at first floor level, café and box office on the ground floor, and function room space under the main hall for various community uses
