Colour photograph showing the auditorium of the former Hippodrome in Derby. Taken from the top of an aisle towards the stage left side of the dress circle, it shows the proscenium and house tabs, with a box framed by giant pilasters either side of the stage at dress circle level and the dress circle itself in the foreground. Rich Baroque plasterwork decorates the balcony front (visible in front of the dress circle slips at the far right and left of the photograph) and the rectangular proscenium, the top of which is masked by the underside of the upper balcony towards the top of the photograph. The former theatre is in use as a bingo hall.
