Colour photograph showing the auditorium of the Opera House in Buxton. Taken from the stage left end of the dress circle looking across the bare auditorium, it shows the dress circle and gods (with slips), with three boxes to the right. Two of the boxes are superimposed, one on top of the other and stepped down in level, with the upper box backed by a characteristic niche flanked by terms. The third, smaller box is at the end of the dress circle, framed between columns supporting a little plaster canopy. The auditorium is decorated throughout in opulent Baroque plasterwork.
