Black and white engraving showing the façade of the Canterbury Hall. The engraving is taken from opposite the façade. The theatre appears delapidated: at ground level, one of the entrance doors is hanging from its hinges; above, the facade has been stripped back to the timber frame. The main frontage is dominated by a blind semicircular arch containing the theatre name, framed by Corithian pilasters rising to a chunky entablature; the attic level is engraved with the year that the theatre was completed: 1852. The Canterbury Hall suffered bomb damage in 1942 and was partially demolished in 1955.
