Black and white photograph showing the proscenium arch of the Apollo Theatre. The photograph is taken from the dress circle and from a position to stage left. The dense plaster enrichment throughout the auditorium is in the Louis XIV manner. Visible architectural elements include: the orchestra pit, which is divided from the stalls by an orchestra rail and curtain; the boxes; the proscenium arch; the house tabs; and the safety curtain. Plaster enrichment is particularly evident on the boxes, which feature bird sculptures on the partition dividing them from the dress circle and, at upper circle level, terms; on the architrave of the proscenium arch, which is lyre-buckled; and on the tympanum above, which is decorated with classical figures in relief.
