Black and white photograph showing the proscenium arch of the Apollo Theatre. The photograph is taken from the centre of the upper circle so as to focus on the top of the proscenium arch and the ceiling above. The dense plaster enrichment on the architectural elements is in the Louis XIV manner. Visible architectural elements include: the proscenium arch; the house tabs; the safety curtain; the boxes at dress circle and balcony level; and the ornate ceiling, which rises from pendentives. Plaster enrichment is particularly evident on the boxes, which feature amorini and terms; on the proscenium arch, which is lyre-buckled; and on the tympanum above, which is decorated with classical figures in relief.
