Black and white photograph showing the exterior of the Old Vic Theatre. The photograph is taken from opposite the corner of the building so that the side elevation can also be seen. The facade is of white stucco. A simple colonnade, which is overlooked by the skeleton of a canopy, covers the entrance. The main frontage is of five bays fronted by a parapet featuring obelisks and engraved with the theatre name, over which advertising signage boards, for F G Minter and Strand Electric, can also be seen; the main windows in the frontage, at second-storey level, have corbelled open-base pediments; at the top of the building, a coat-of-arms surmounts the cornice. The side elevation is mainly of plain brick and features a blind arcade. The corner of building has a stone plaque surmounted by a swan-neck pediment (centre); the inscription is illegible.
