Photograph of a colour-tinted postcard showing the façade of the Hippodrome in Peckham, later the Crown Theatre, within a streetscape of Peckham High Street in London. A balustraded balcony sits above an iron canopy in front of three french windows, with a short colonnaded area visible on the second floor. Next door to and on the far side of this entrance block can be seen a larger stone-faced block displaying advertising signage. Two stubby corner towers appear at the top, flanking the word ‘HIPPODROME’ in large tablature. The name also appears on the canopy and again on an exposed wall behind the main structure. A cupola sits on the corner of a further, slightly smaller, structure on the near side.
