Hafren

1001

The theatre was built as an integral part of the Montgomery College of Further Education, later called Coleg Powys, now part of NPTC Group of Colleges. The college is a plain brick complex, the theatre building identified by clear signage, although there is no other external hint as to its theatrical design apart from the fly tower. Front of house the bar, foyer and coffee shop are shared with the college, as are good parking facilities. Access for get-in is also easy. The auditorium has a fixed balcony on each side wall, and the main central seating rake retracts to reveal a flat floor for cabaret style events. Backstage the dressing room block provides six dressing rooms. In 2010 the theatre received funding from the County Council to refurbish the stage facilities, construct a new fly tower, alter the ventilations system and make improvements front of house. Plans have been in progress for many years to add a dedicated FOH area and a 150 seat studio space.
