Regent
Square, low building with projecting semi-circular domed entrance in Art Deco style from Victoria Parade. Interior appears to be slightly excavated. Originally a glass and ironwork pavilion. The entrance was into the side of the auditorium, with the stage on the left on entry. Wide, impractical auditorium, square, more in concert style, which was redesigned and improved in 1933, adding a first-floor extension for a cafe, projection box and offices, and rebuilding the stage at rear, opposite the entrance. Original barrel-vault ceiling with minimal ornamentation survives, now hidden by suspended ceiling, added for bingo use in 1963. Bingo left in 2009, and the building has since been empty. A typical example of a sea-side Pavilion, not without charm, with interest locally for a return to cinema use.
