Bromley Little Theatre

2208

An amateur theatre presenting one play a month with the exception of August, when essential works and maintenance of the theatre is undertaken. The building was formerly a bakery approached through a yard and has the modest appearance of a cluster of out buildings. Only an amateur theatre with dedicated support could have been successful for so long. Roof, brickwork and floors are all in need of repair or replacement. The staging area is versatile but the auditorium, which has 113 seats in 12 rows, has strained sightlines, the crossover has extremely low headroom, the lighting operator has an oblique view of the stage and the sound operator cannot see it at all. The public entrance and the stage door is at first floor level, approached by steep staircases. However, improvements have been made gradually over the last decade which included the installation of a lift and improved heating and air conditioning in the auditorium. A new lease was finally agreed in 2016 which will enable repairs to the roof. There are plans are for improved access and more performance and rehearsal space in the future.
