Capitol
Cine-variety to which entrance is gained through an arch in railway viaducting with the vast bulk of brick auditorium on the far side of the (now disused) tracks. The entrance portico, projecting from the arch, has a Doric order and the interior is a Roman classical fantasy on a grand scale. One balcony without slips faces a wide proscenium with curving splay walls with organ and plenum grilles. Above is a heavy cornice with panelled ceiling coves and a beamed central section. The interior has been altered for bingo with new raised seating wings and a typically garish colour scheme.
