Bijou

Opened in 1911 and was altered in 1912 to reopen as the Bijou Theatre. High concave entrance set in short tower with cupola, with shops either side, the auditorium lying at the rear of the shops. No interior description found.

The theatre was used for concert parties and variety, until acquired for use as a cinema in 1926. In 1936, it was purchased by Union, but never reopened. It was used as an auctioneers and later the auditorium was subdivided for retail use at street level, and office use above, which use continues today. Today the entrance is unmistakable, with original glazing intact.
