Prince's
Built directly above the Palace Theatre (q.v.), the Prince’s may be the only British example of a two-deck theatre (cf Thomas Lamb’s later Elgin & Winter Gardens ‘stacked’ theatres in Toronto, 1913). The Prince’s opened as an opera house for the Carl Rosa Opera. Repertory was introduced in 1931, and continued with various companies until the theatre closed in May 1961.
Both theatres were demolished in 1964, and the site is now part of the National Museum of Photography, Film & Television.
