Greyhound

The Greyhound was a landmark pub/hotel in Croydon High Street.

The theatre occupied what was probably designed as a function room/ballroom. The brewers, Barclay Perkins, permitted its occupation by a repertory theatre company from 1926 to 1931.

On the evidence of a photograph on a programme front, it was a handsome room, probably square on plan, contained within four great arches springing from low corner piers. The four arches and their pendentives supported a circular (possibly domed) ceiling. The pendentives contained circular frames with figure paintings. There was a small proscenium stage.
