Greenwich Playhouse

3117

This was a pub theatre, unusually situated in a station forecourt, immediately adjoining South East Rail and Docklands Light Railway entrance. The theatre was on the first floor of a rear annexe to the St Christopher’s Inn Hotel. The auditorium was a plain, skylit room with a dais at the entrance end, with seating usually on three sides, rather than facing an end stage. There were two dressing rooms. There was no dedicated bar space, but easy access to the pub bars on the ground floor. This was a successful and popular producing house, but the theatre closed in 2012 when the building was converted to a hostel.
