Kenneth More Theatre
Ilford's civic theatre, built in 1974 and named after the popular English stage and screen actor, Kenneth More. The main auditorium seats 365, with a proscenium arch stage with fly tower and orchestra pit for 26 musicians. The Studio Theatre, seating 50, was included in the design of the building to provide a space for experimental work. It was re-named the Cowan Studio in 2001 to honour the contribution of the Cowan Family to the Kenneth More Theatre.
Since its opening, the Kenneth More Theatre has devoted half of its programming to local amateur companies, and productions that encourage young people to experience all forms of drama, musical theatre and opera.
