Kingsway Hall
Non-conformist church in Italianate style with pyramidal roof and entrance bay with dominating square tower with clockface and grilles over, possibly once a bell tower. Built by Robert Bagshaw, a benefactor of Dovercourt, it has a gallery and a separate basement. After church use ceased, and with the loss of the Alexandra Theatre and local cinemas, of which two had stages, it was changed to community use, with performances staged in the main hall. This was a flat floored hall with deep coved ceiling and moveable tip-up seats, circular headed chancel arch and projecting rostra. There was limited wing space. In 2015, Kingsway Hall Arts and Theatre Community Trust pulled out of running the building due to high costs, and the venue closed. A charity shop is now based inside.
