Brookside Theatre
The Romford War Memorial Social Club was constructed in 1952, funded by public subscription. It acted as both a community hall/social club and war memorial. The club houses oak panels commemorating those who lost their lives in World War Two. The buildings fell in to neglect in the 1980s, but following a regeneration project by local volunteers the main hall was refurbished and in 2012 the main building was converted to theatre use. Proceeds from performances are put back into the upkeep of the building and war memorial. Brookside Theatre is constructed of brick with wooden cladding on the exterior. The auditorium is flat floored with flexible seating arrangements, the maximum capacity being 140. The auditorium has its originals radiators. Proscenium stage without apron/orchestra pit and no rake. There are no flying facilities and no permanent wing space. There are two dressing rooms, located in the War Memorial building in front of the theatre.
