3841

Construction of The Beacons Arts Centre, successor to Greenock’s Arts Guild, began in 2011. It opened in January 2013. It is situated next to the Grade A listed Custom House and offers views across the Clyde. The exterior is clad in metal with structural glass planks, clear glass and "lantern spaces" which can be lit up and used for advertising. The main auditorium seats 500 on three levels. There are 16 open sawtooth boxes, four to each side of the stage at circle and upper circle level. The main auditorium has a broad proscenium, full flytower, two trap doors and can accommodate an orchestra pit. The flexible black box studio space has retractable seating for up to 130 people and can work in a variety of configurations. There are also three rehearsal rooms and a bistro.
