Lion Theatre

3859

The Lion Theatre is situated in the yard of the Red Lion Hotel in Horncastle's Bull Ring. The areas that are now the stage, lobby, bar, green-room, and dressing rooms were originally the inn's coach-house and outbuildings. The auditorium, seating 96, was built from scratch between two outbuildings by the Horncastle Theatre Company in 1988. Threatened with closure due to the possible sale of the pub by auction in March 2015, the theatre was identified as an Asset of Community Value in September 2014. Forutnately, the new management of the pub is committed to keeping the theatre open.
