Omnibus
Built as a public library by architect Edward I’Anson in 1889, the original red brick and stone building was divided into reading rooms and a reference library on the ground floor with a large meeting room upstairs. After the construction of a new library, the lease of the existing building was taken in 2012 by a group of local residents who had long been campaigning for its use as a multi-arts venue with a theatre at its core. Omnibus opened in November 2013 housing a 110 seat theatre with flexible, raked seating, a cafe/bar and two adaptable spaces for rehearsal or performance.
