Theatre of Small Convenience

3947

Transformed from an old Victorian gentleman's lavatory, the Theatre of Small Convenience was listed as the smallest theatre building in the world in the 2002 Guinness Book of Records. The building is trapezoidal in shape - 4.9m long and 3m at the widest point. The walls and ceiling are hand painted with designs ranging from commedia dell’arte figures to rolling hills doubling up as ghoulish faces. At one end is a decorative wooden proscenium around a small stage. Performances included puppetry, music and poetry. The theatre closed in February 2017.
