Brewhouse

54

This eighteenth century brewhouse, listed Grade II, was converted to an arts centre in 1990. This is a long and narrow two storey brick building with evenly spaced windows, seven at the right hand end being set in shallow arched recesses. The slate roof is surmounted by lanterns which are now used for air-conditioning.

The centre has continued to introduce improvements over the last decade. It houses an open stage performing area as well as dance, drama and music studios and gallery accommodation. In spite of being in the town centre the Brewhouse is blessed with access to a large car park.
