Odeon Kingston upon Thames

771

Opened as a cinema theatre in 1933. It suffered as a result of Rank's merger of the Odeon and Gaumont circuits, when being on the so-called 'national release' circuit proved less profitable.

Converted to bingo in 1967, it closed in 1987, and was finally demolished in 1989. The site was initially redeveloped as retail, but in 2005 redevelopment started again and the site is now home to a theatre, the Rose (q.v.).
