Granada

789

The Granada plans started as an ambitious cinema theatre called The State, planned by the Hyam brothers in 1938. This included a curved proscenium arch stage with full facilities, and a restaurant over the foyer. Possibly because of the intervention of war, the uncompleted building was taken over by Granada and modified; however, the internal entrance hall was very impressive with much gilt work and chandeliers and this led to a very fine classical style auditorium in typical Komisarjevsky décor. It lasted in this form until it was tripled in 1975.
